sighs softly Thank you for your sympathy.
It was difficult to deal with. At least they had the decency to attack in the afternoon, rather than at night where we would have been caught totally off guard. Brought down one of their damned ships, the Sky Dancer, and literally blasted the door down.
We never had an established protocol by which to evacuate the Stable. Thankfully, Stable 7 had a design quirk: it had more than one entry point. This fact was not made public knowledge until we needed to evacuate. Mother—the Overmare—decided that if the population knew, it would cause a panic about how secure a secret access door to the outside was. Didn’t want that.
After the door came flying in, she dispatched the security personnel—all ten of them. I’d like to say our ponies fought valiantly, but it seems that they didn’t last long against the high powered energy weapons that the Enclave pegasi troops used. We tried to shut further inside doors, locking them down.
The Sky Dancer made quick work of them. Fired their main guns right into the entrance. It was like a beam of angry fire that eradicated anything that dared to stand in its path. More pegasi troops stormed in, armed with explosives, magical energy weapons, and those Luna-damned suits with those stingers.
My mother gave the order to evacuate as soon as the second wave came storming inside. I wasn’t there to witness it, but the reports from other survivors that were close to the office indicated that they stormed the Overmare’s office, and then used a flamethrower to… to…
*chokes up for a moment*
The Stable was chaos. How do you evacuate when you don’t know where to evacuate to? The outside was still considered a poisoned waste, filled with things that defied the imagination—although they were creations of our own lack of knowledge and far-flung concepts about what might be there. Inside was becoming a blood-filled nightmare. I took over, galloping to the habitat level and told everypony that was still down there to leave immediately. ”Take nothing with you, there is no time! These pegasi outside want to kill us, and I do not know why. Grab your foals if you have them and just run.”
The hundred and twenty odd ponies that were off shift on the Habitat level followed my orders. Yet, I still knew there were others behind, in the labs and going about their daily jobs. One hundred and seventy four ponies. Ninety-four pegasi, fifty unicorns and thirty earth ponies… including the Overmare, my father, and my little sister who had just gotten her cutie mark—the sun breaching the horizon and beginning its ascent into the sky.
But the fucking rub of it all… the Enclave wasn’t done.
I don’t understand how they found out about the Stable’s design. Never did stick around to ask, probably could make some inquiries with Calamity and Velvet Remedy now that things are a bit more…*wry chuckle* stable.
We had gotten about half-way through the evacuation when the entire Stable shook. Worse than any earthquake that we’d ever read about. It was the Sky Dancer. Convinced that there were more ponies inside—and apparently Tartarus-bent on making an example for somepony, I can’t imagine who—they started to burn the Stable alive. Must have used their main guns to blast away the rock and dirt that kept the inner walls secured. Everypony was panicking, and we knew we just needed to get out.
It wasn’t the most horrible part, though. I could hear their troops—their own attack squad—burn alive as they were shot by the Sky Dancer. They had betrayed the ponies sent to carry out the attack. The Enclave had simply no lines they wouldn’t cross to accomplish whatever twisted goals they had in mind.
My brother and I survived. The other ponies that made it out… I did the best I could to help them. Most had lost family. And now we all had no home.
We escaped into the Everfree for shelter, until we slowly filtered and made our way to various parts of the Wasteland.
